Bournemmouth: the south coast's conference & exhibition destination

Published: 03 May 2023

There’s a reason why 4.7 million people visit Bournemouth every year. Picture seven miles of golden sand; an uninterrupted promenade on which to walk, run and cycle; beautifully kept gardens that meander up from the Pier; and a vibrant collection of city-style restaurants and bars from which to watch the sunset.

Within 2 hours travel time from London, Bournemouth is an award-winning resort nestled between the world-famous Jurassic Coast and historical New Forest. This cosmopolitan town is busy, bustling and is benefiting from significant investment. With ample green and sustainable activities, transport and accommodation options, no matter how big your conference or event is Bournemouth will ensure your delegates have a first-class experience.

Residential Venues
The towns official Conference Bureau, Business Events Bournemouth, work with only the best local and regional providers. With more than 7000 bedrooms, from timeless and traditional to creative and quirky, Bournemouth’s venues are as diverse as they come.

There has been significant investment in the accommodation sector including the opening of the new luxury Nici Hotel (The Times & Sunday Times ‘Best Seaside Hotel 2023’) an extensive refurbishment of the 141-bedroom Highcliff Marriott Hotel.  The eco award winning Green House Hotel and pioneering Beach Lodges, both continue to be iconic places to stay.

Confident Conferencing – large scale events
The Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) remains to be the largest purpose-built venue for business events in southern England, with a licensed capacity of up to 10,000 people. Last year, along with the art deco Pavilion Theatre, the BIC was awarded the prestigious Green Mark, acknowledging the consumption initiatives and savings which both venues are making. The BIC is dedicated to being net carbon zero by 2035 and investing to save for the future, the venue has recently benefited from a £1.8million investment from BCP Council.  This will see the venue undergo a significant digital makeover, including the installation of new high-tech equipment, lighting, screens and audio technology as well as refreshing customer spaces.

Exquisite dining – city-style
There’s no denying it — we’re a foodie town. Whether you’re after independent artisan eateries or internationally celebrated brands, Bournemouth offers an eclectic mix of restaurant experiences for every type of occasion. You can taste local delicacies such as Dorset Blue Vinney cheese, Jugged Steak and Portland Lamb, and if you head towards the Jurassic Coast, you may even stumble across a ‘Dorset Knob’ — a traditional biscuit that requires several layers of butter and a wedge of cheese!

Incentive Ideas

Unspoilt, protected landscapes and dramatic seascapes provide a superb and exhilarating setting for an eclectic mix of extreme challenges, coastal treks, off-road safaris, cosy pub stops and world-class dining experiences.
We can organise anything from high ropes adventure, orienteering, paintball and other land-based activities, to just about everything on and under the water — from paddleboat trips and yacht charters, to dive, kitesurf, and surf experiences.

You’ll also have one of the UK’s hottest entertainment venues on your doorstep, making gig tickets another option to include in the mix. Plus you’ve got a string of lively bars, restaurants, cafés and clubs which are more than willing to take part in incentive programmes
