Bratislava is one of the most rapidly growing urban regions of Europe and one of the youngest capitals in Europe. Located on the banks of the Danube, Bratislava was an important city in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Schwechat airport is about 45 km from Bratislava and there is a bus shuttle several times a day. Bratislava has more than 70 hotels of different categories and standards. The more costly ones are in the city centre, many of which are right in the pedestrian zone.
