Value for Money:   Prices for hotel rooms, restaurants, transport and shopping are below the European average and on a par with Vienna and Prague.
Gothenburg is the second largest city in Sweden and located on the West Coast. Founded in 1621, Gothenburg grew to an important centre of trade and industry.  Shipping, shipbuilding and engineering were among the first industries to be developed in the city.  Gothenburg is also the centre for Scandinavian industry with head offices for Volvo, SKF, Saab, Scania, Astra Zeneca and Ericson in the area.

Gothenburg is centrally located for Scandinavia with high-speed train links to Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen all taking approximately 3 hours.  The city has two international airports with direct flights to 57 European destinations.  Both airports are less than 25km from the city centre and the transfer is 20 minutes.  One of the benefits is that Gothenburg is a small city with most hotels and restaurants in walking distance.  It is also very clean and safe.  Gothenburg is the gastronomic capital of Sweden and serves lots of fresh seafood; there are 5 Michelin starred restaurants in the city.  The city is green, both eco-friendly and with gardens and open spaces.
